
Justin Remer is a writer, filmmaker, musician, and podcaster. Born and raised in Ohio, he moved to New York after high school. He earned a BFA in Film & TV Production at New York University, then worked in film production and post-production for several years. In New York, he fronted the antifolk group Elastic No-No Band, produced over 50 music videos for artists in the New York antifolk scene, and started an independent record label, Weemayk Music. In 2008, he produced an hour-long documentary on Frank Hoier & The Weber Brothers as they produced their debut collaborative album, Lovers & Dollars. Justin’s music has appeared in a Troma film and in the CBS drama The Good Fight. He is a host on the Skylight Books podcast and the Macon County Movie Club web series. He currently lives in Los Angeles, writes freelance pop culture articles, records folk, rock, and ambient music as Duck the Piano Wire, and is developing a feature film on open mic musicians. His first book, on the album “Weird Al” Yankovic in 3-D, is expected to be published in Bloomsbury’s 33 1/3 series in 2026 or ’27.
